ProximityCuba offers a variety of general and specific itineraries with educational, entertaining and unforgettable activities in order to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of Cuba.
Cuba is going through very tough times. The U.S. blockade is impacting very hard on the daily life for most people in the Island and Trump's 243 measures to strangle the economy of Cuba are currently making a big damage and unfortunately Biden's administration did little to change them. The Cuban government has launched several economic reforms in order to cope with the crisis, the private sector has been substantially expanded along with cooperatives and state small enterprises, in spite of all the harsh times, the government has been able to maintain intact the basic achievements of the Revolution, such as free health care, education and culture. The economic reforms have been an opportunity for entrepreneurs to establish small and medium enterprises which have generated a heated discussion on the challenges of this sector and the benefits that average people perceive.
In spite of the U.S. sanctions, Cuba has successfully has managed to control the Covid-19 pandemic early and developed 5 effective vaccines, which the whole population has developed immunity thanks to the comprehensive preventive health program.
Cuba has proven its hospitality to foreign visitors for decades. If you have never visited Cuba, this is a very unique opportunity to do so. If you have traveled to Cuba before, this is the right moment to continue your support the Cuban people. U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has reinstated the "people-to-people" category of legal travel to Cuba. This amendment authorizes group educational travel conducted under the auspices of an organization that is subject to U.S. jurisdiction and that sponsors such exchanges to promote people-to-people contact, provided such travelers are accompanied by agent of the sponsoring organization.
