Explore the city of Havana from the historial site to the most modern areas, learn about the different architecture styles in the city, history and traditions. Get immerse in Cuban culture. Meet with grassroots organizations and exchange with Cubans from all walks of life. Visit a cooperative and learn about agriculture and organic food growing in Cuba.

You will be hosted by professional, bilingual coordinators who will expertly guide you through your Cuba adventure!

Required information is needed to secure hotel reservations, and to be sure we meet your program expectations. We cannot process incomplete applications, so be sure all necessary information has been provided.

REQUIRED PAPERWORK:

  1. OFAC Travel Affidavit, completed and signed (DOWNLOAD)
  2. Complete Registration Form (DOWNLOAD)
  3. Responsible and Ethical Travel To Cuba (RESPECT) Travel Affidavit (DOWNLOAD)
  4. Copy of your U.S. passport valid at least 4 months beyond the date of the trip’s return.

* If you are a citizen of another country, you must have a valid passport of that country along with U.S. residency permit or visa with multiple entry permitted, also valid at least 4 months beyond the date of the trip’s return

* If Cuban born, you must hold either a valid and stamped Cuban passport or if you left Cuba prior to January 1, 1971, a U.S. passport and a PE-11 entry permit.

9:30 AM Walking tour in Habana Vieja. Explore the historical and oldest district of Havana; walk along Plaza Vieja, Mercaderes street, Plaza de Armas, and the Cathedral

2:30 PM Drive Tour Vedado Downtown: Monument to the Maine Battleship, Hotel nacional, Columbus Cemetery. Visit to the Revolution Square and Hotel Nacional

6:00 PM Return. Free for dinner

9:30 AM Visit the Literacy Campaign Museum and meet History Professor Luisa Campos and Director of the Museum

12:00 PM Visit to the home and art studio of ceramist and painter José Fuster Learn about his art community project

2:30 PM Visit to the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and meet with representatives.

5:00 PM Return to the hotel

11:00 AM Visit to the Fine Arts Museum with curator Omar Diaz

1:00 PM Lunch at El Figaro Paladar located in the Barber’s Alley (included)

3:00 PM Visit the Callejón de Hamel, a street cultural center led by painter and muralist Salvador González Escalona. His internationally known artwork deals with the roots and influences of African religions in Cuba

4:00 PM Return to the hotel

5:30 PM Meeting with members of the Community Project Espiral. Espiral is a grassroots project dedicated to educate young people on environmental issues and sustainable development. Discussion on various pressing issues in Cuba with college students and young professionals

6:00 PM Cultural activity with the community project Okan-Tomi that explores and reworks Afro-Cuban dances and music traditions

Friday, March 2

10:30 AM Meeting with an Economy professor at the university

12:30 PM Lunch at La Torre (included)

3:30 PM Visit to the community project "Juguemos, Cantemos y Bailemos" in Arroyo Naranjo, a project devoted to work with children and young people with social problems

5:30 PM. Return to the hotel

7:30 PM Optional visit to the Factory of Cuban Arts (FAC) (2 CUC cover not Included – one-way transportation)

  • Based on double room occupancy, $1,800
  • Based on single room occupancy,  $2,000

A non-refundable deposit of $500 will be due SUNDAY, JANUARY 7, 2018 and it is required in order to secure requested program dates. The remaining balance must be paid in full by FRIDAY, JANUARY 26, 2018. If you want you can pay the full amount at once.

 

The cost includes the following:

  • Hotel accommodations in Hotel Vedado - Saint John (3*) for 7 nights in Havana - We will do our best to accommodate "double room" request for solo travelers, but we can not guarantee availability. If a suitable roommate is not available, you will be required to pay for a single room.
  • Daily breakfast.
  • 7 meals either lunch or dinner indicated as included in the tentative itinerary.
  • In/out airport transfers for the recommended flights (participants flying as individuals and arriving at different times must arrange their own transfer – taxis. Fares typically run between 20 and 35 CUC per car).
  • Ground transportation for the scheduled activities.
  • Excursion outside Havana to visit farming cooperatives.
  • Entrance/Program fee associated with scheduled activities (unless otherwise indicated).
  • Guided visits and cultural activities included in the program.
  • Fees/honoraria for professors, lecturers and institutions.
  • Farewell party with Cuban guests.
  • Expenses for Cuban participants (coordinator, guides, drivers and others).
  • Program Coordination as it is indicated in the tentative attached itinerary, translations and a professional tour guide.
  • Administrative overhead fees.

 

The cost does not include the following:

  • Domestic flights and Airfare from US to Havana
  • Health Insurance (which now U.S. air-carriers must include in the fare)
  • Cuban Visa ($50 USD at jetBlue counter)
  • Cuban airport tax (which also will be included in the airfare).
  • Meals not included in the program.
  • Tips.
  • Personal items/expenses.
  • Optional and/or unscheduled activities.
